Department of Invertebrate Zoology and Hydrobiology

As Head of Department, I: 1) I represent the department externally; 2) I support the development of research work projects; 3) I support research work in the disciplines covered by the department; 4) I organise and supervise the teaching activities of the department; 5) I make proposals to the Faculty Council or the Dean, including proposals for employment, other staff matters and awards for department staff; 6) I manage the department's property and allocated funds, subject to separate regulations; 7) I submit annual reports on the activities of the department to the Dean.

Scientifically, I am an entomologist and palaeobiologist. My scientific work currently focuses mainly on the evolution and taxonomy of fossil flies (Diptera) and millipedes (Mecoptera) within the framework of NCN and IDUB grants, as well as on topics related to winter invertebrate activity.

As a Academic Teacher: I give lectures, exercises and seminars with students of all years mainly in Biology and Environmental Studies, such as: Biodiversity, Ecology of Terrestrial Animals, Animal Biology with Elements of Zoogeography, Paleobiology, Urban Nature Conservation.

My social activities include: Vice President of the International Palaeoentomogical Society, Vice President of the Polish Entomological Society, Vice President of the Łódź Branch of the Polish Entomological Society.
