She began working at the University of Lodz in 1974 in the Department of Economic Geography, and currently works at the Institute of Urban Geography, Tourism and Geoinformation. In the years 1998-2001 she was the vice-dean for geography at the Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences, and after the establishment of the Faculty of Geographical Sciences in the years 2002-2008 the vice-dean for teaching at the new faculty.
From the beginning she conducted research in the field of settlement geography, including: suburban zones of large cities, land price differentiation in the city and suburban zone, spatial transformation of cities, gentrification processes, influx of migrants from outside the EU, depopulation processes of Lodz, tourist values of revitalized areas on the example of Lodz. She defended her doctorate in 1982, habilitation at the University of Warsaw in 1998, and received the title of full professor in 2011.
