I am a graduate of Environmental Protection, which I studied at the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection at the University of Łódź.
I obtained a PhD in the discipline of Biological Sciences in 2021, based on my doctoral dissertation "Biology of the weatherfish (Misgurnus fossilis L.)".
Since October 2018, I have been employed at the Department of Ecology and Vertebrate Zoology at the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection at the University of Łódź.
My scientific interests focus primarily on the biology and ecology of freshwater fish. I am particularly interested in protected species (stone loach, European brook lamprey, Ukrainian brook lamprey, weatherfish, and bitterling) as well as invasive species (amur sleeper and round goby).
Currently, I am analyzing the foraging strategies and diet of the invasive Amur sleeper (Perccottus glenii) and several tropical parasitic fish species from the Synodontis family. I am also working on determining substrate preferences and interactions between sympatrically occurring brook lamprey and Ukrainian lamprey.
I am a co-author of several publications that have been published in renowned scientific journals, and I have participated in numerous national and international conferences.
I am a researcher in the NCN Opus 21 grant project titled "Does the dynamics of coevolution generate population-specific responses to an invasive species?" led by Prof. M. Reichard (Department of Ecology and Vertebrate Zoology). Additionally, I was the PI of the NCN Miniatura 7 grant titled "The relationship between brook lamprey and Ukrainian lamprey – coexistence or competitive displacement?"
I have taken part in two three-week scientific expeditions organized by the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection at the University of Łódź:
During these expeditions, I participated in the collection of research material, focusing on benthic macroinvertebrates (Trichoptera, Ephemeroptera, Chironomidae, Odonata).
I am a research and teaching staff member.
I conduct scientific research on fish biology and ecology, species interactions, and the anthropogenic transformations of river ecosystems.
I teach courses for Biology and Environmental Protection students, including Fundamentals of Ecology, Ecology, Biodiversity of Ecosystems, Aquatic Ecosystems in the Anthropocene, and field exercises.
I serve as the Teaching Coordinator for the Department of Ecology and Vertebrate Zoology, managing class schedules and department teaching workloads.
I am also responsible for overseeing the department's book collection.
