The responsibilities of the program director include, among others:

  • organizing meetings of the Program Council for the degree program;

  • participating in the work of the Faculty Committee for Quality Assurance in Education;

  • initiating revisions to the study plan and curriculum aimed at improving the quality of education;

  • supervising the up-to-dateness of course syllabi and ensuring that their learning outcomes align with the program-level outcomes;

  • overseeing and managing the schedule for class observations (hospitations);

  • coordinating final (diploma) examinations;

  • informing students about the organization of the academic year;

  • proposing modifications to the academic calendar to adapt it to the specific nature of the degree program;

  • supervising and controlling the examination schedule during examination periods;

  • coordinating the process of elective course selection, including preparing a list of available elective courses;

  • verifying the consistency of learning outcomes and content of elective courses with the program curriculum, reviewing submitted syllabi, and recommending course approval;

  • conducting, together with the Program Council, the evaluation of master's theses submitted for the best thesis competition;

  • preparing and conducting surveys among students and academic staff concerning the quality of education;

  • compiling lists of thesis topics and reviewers for evaluation by the Faculty Committee for Quality Assurance and approval by the Faculty Council;

  • documenting student participation in research projects conducted at the Faculty of Geographical Sciences and compiling a list of student-authored publications;

  • coordinating the preparation of the program’s self-assessment report for accreditation purposes of the Polish Accreditation Committee;

  • preparing the program description card for student recruitment at the University of Łódź;

  • initiating promotional activities for the degree program;

  • maintaining contact with program alumni and gathering information about their career paths.
