Department of Roman Law

1) Undertaking research in the area of the reception of Roman law in England and the English and American legal history.

2) Teaching courses linked with my main fields of research

3) Supervising students and doctoral candaidates who would like to conduct research in the area relevant to my own fields of research.

Bio

I am a lawyer and canon lawyer. I was educated at the University of Lodz (LLM, 2010; Ph.D., 2015, Sc.D., 2020) and the University of Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski in Warsaw (JCL, 2016). Currently, I am holding the position of Associate Professor and Vice Dean for Research at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Lodz. I have published more than sixty scientific works, including books, edited collections, articles, chapters and numerous smaller pieces. My main fields of research are the reception of Roman law in England and English legal history. In addition, I am interested, and I am occasionally undertaking research on ancient Roman law, American legal history, history of Polish law and the impact of Roman law on Polish legal culture as well as on medieval canon law. I have participated in numerous conferences and seminars during which I have presented papers and lectures. For my research, I got internal and external grants. During last ten years, I have also actively taught Roman law, English legal history and methodology of common law to master and doctoral students.
