prof. Stanisław Liszewski

Polish geographer, urban planner, professor, lecturer, President of the National Committee for Cooperation with the International Geographic Union at the Division of Earth and Mining Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, member of the National Committee for Cooperation with the International Council for Science at the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences, since 1991 President of the Łódź Scientific Society, former Director of the Institute of Urban and Tourist Geography of the University of Lodz, in 1996-2002 Rector of the University of Lodz. In addition,
a member of several other scientific organisations. Author of numerous scientific publications, supervisor and reviewer of doctoral and postdoctoral theses. In 2011 he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Lodz University of Technology.

He passed away on 23 April 2016.
