University of Lodz will confer the title of dhc on Professor Joseph H. H. Weiler

Outstanding lawyer, specialist in the field of constitutional and international law prof. Joseph H. H. Weiler will receive the title of doctor honoris causa of the University of Lodz – the University Senate has decided. It is an expression of appreciation of the Professor's great contribution to the development of law in the above-mentioned areas, as well as recognition of his many years of efforts in building bridges between communities in contemporary Europe. The ceremonial awarding of the title has been scheduled for the inauguration of the academic year 2022/2023 – 3 October 2022.

Prof. Weiner in the lecture hall

Prof. Joseph H. H. Weiler has been a guest of the University of Lodz many times before. In 2019, he delivered a lecture entitled "Poland and the European Culture Wars 2003-2019" at the Faculty of Law and Administration. He has Polish roots, which he has mentioned many times and he often visits Poland. Currently he is associated, among others, with the European University Institute in Florence. 

Dr hab. Kazimierz Ujazdowski (prof. UL) from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Lodz will be the honorary doctoral thesis supervisor.
