FLOWERS? NO, THANK YOU!

A beautiful bouquet of flowers for a thesis defence?

"Flowers? - No, thank you!" – at the University of Lodz, we encourage students to show their gratitude to their supervisors and thesis reviewers for the work and time spent together in an alternative way!

RULES OF THE CAMPAIGN

At the University of Lodz we implement the “Flowers? - No, thank you!” campaign and we help! For over 10 years we have been making it easier for students to buy occasional gifts, at the same time helping those who need it most. The rules are simple – we cooperate with foundations that look after children on a daily basis. Currently these are:

  • Słonie na Balkonie
  • Happy Kids

As part of the campaign the foundations' beneficiaries, using their unusual, child's imagination, create drawings for the University of Lodz. We use selected patterns to create greeting cards, which can be purchased as gifts for members of the examination boards. The entire income from the sales of cards is donated to the foundations, supporting the daily needs of small artists. This way, in 2019, we managed to donate nearly PLN 8,500!

WILLINGNESS TO HELP HAS NO LIMITS

The campaign "Flowers? - No, thank you!" was organised at the University of Lodz on the initiative of a group of professors. It is addressed to students who defend their diploma theses.

However, the willingness to help has no limits, and the cards are often bought and given on other occasions – they are made of ecological paper, with space for your own text. The postcards are available to the entire community of the University of Lodz in the store at the University of Lodz Library (ul. Matejki 32), and online: sklep.uni.lodz.pl. The price of one card is only PLN 15, and the total income from the sale of cards is donated to the foundations.
