The National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) has awarded funding to 15 institutions under the "STER – Internationalization of Doctoral Schools" programme at the fall of the year 2023 – and the University of Lodz is among those implementing the latest edition of the STER. The awarded funding is intended to support the development of opportunities for international cooperation among doctoral schools.

The Doctoral Schools Centre at the University of Lodz is implementing the project "Smarter, Faster, Better - Internationalization of Doctoral Schools at the University of Lodz" from 1/1/2024 to 31/12/2026 under the STER programme funded by the National Agency for Academic Exchange.

As part of the project, the University will establish incentive scholarships for the best doctoral students pursuing doctoral dissertations at the international level. To develop the international mobility of doctoral students of the University of Lodz and the arrivals of visiting professors who will give lectures at our University.

Planned in the project are also activities related to international promotion of University of Lodz doctoral schools.

The aim of the project is to increase the internationalization of doctoral schools at the University of Lodz by:

  • increasing the mobility of doctoral school students taking up international scientific/research/training internships and study visits;
  • establishing international cooperation with scientific and research institutions;
  • Internationalization of education by enhancing the offer of classes for doctoral students with guest lectures;
  • increasing the number of doctoral dissertations in English;
  • trying out latest research methods at universities abroad, with a view to modernizing the teaching and research capacity of the University of Lodz;
  • increasing international visibility of the University of Lodz doctoral schools.
