Article 324 section 2 of the Law on Higher Education and Science (Dziennik Ustaw [Journal of Laws] of 2018, item 1668, as amended).

At the University of Lodz, the decision about admission is made based on the results and, sometimes, on an interview in the subject related to their field of study. If a candidate chooses to study in Polish, the interview is held in Polish.

STAGES OF THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS

The candidate is required to complete a set of documents:

  • an application form with attached photo
  • copies of certificates and diplomas
  • a copy of transcript of records
  • an English language certificate
  • a cover letter (how to write a cover letter)
  • a document confirming eligibility to apply for admission to first-cycle studies, second-cycle studies, and uniform master's studies  in the Republic of Poland, issued by a competent institution (Board of Education/NAWA),
  • administrative fee of 85 PLN (~17 EUR)

Upload them to the admission online platform or on rare occasion send them to the International Relations Office.

Copies/scans of the foregoing documents are allowed, since students need to bring/send the original documents after being admitted to the university. If the documents are issued in a foreign language, they need to be translated into English during the admission if Polish translation is unavailable in the candidate’s home country. Please bear in mind that certificates/diplomas will have to be translated by a sworn translator into Polish after coming to Poland due to Polish law’s requirement. At this stage the candidate is asked to pay the application fee of 85 zloty for each study programme. After the payment reaches the University bank account the documents are considered on their merits by the Faculty.

The candidate is responsible for the correctness and relevance of the data s/he provides and ensures their compliance with her/his documents. All negative effects, legal and financial consequences of falsely entered data shall be borne by the candidate.

Candidates have to provide a document confirming eligibility to apply for admission to first-cycle studies, second-cycle studies, and uniform master's studies in the Republic of Poland, issued by a competent institution (NAWA).

Failure to provide the document by the deadline will result in ineligibility for enrollment.

This obligation does not apply to persons whose school certificate/diploma can be recognized as equivalent to the corresponding Polish certificate based on an international agreement (EU, EEA, OECD countries, Ukraine, China - in terms of certificates).

Please be aware that there is a significant possibility that the admission process may change starting from July 1st due to new government policies. This change would require all candidates to participate in a virtual entrance exam, as each Polish university will be mandated to examine candidates.

The documents are considered on their merits and grades are being calculated into points for the selection process.

Once the candidate passes the exam and is selected by the admission committee, he/she can pay the tuition fee for studies.

A proof of payment must be returned to the International Relations Office via Admission platform. After the payment reaches the University bank account the candidate is sent a Confirmation Letter (Offer Letter) and asked to apply for visa.

Banach scholarship holders or scholarship programme participants exempted from education fees in order to go further with the application process, need to make sure that they uploaded to the Admission system the letter of decision on scholarship or exemption from education fees. Candidates who will not get a referral from NAWA will switch to regular payment scheme or resign from studies.

In order to receive a visa, the student needs to contact the Polish Embassy or Consulate appropriate for their country. The documents needed to get a visa are similar or correspond, to some degree, with those needed for the enrolment process into the university. Usually the Embassy asks to see the proof of the tuition payment and the financial statement of the funds needed to study in Poland.

The candidate is required to bring/send to the International Relations Office (address: Uniwersytecka 3, room 1) all the original documents listed below until 15.08.2025:

– application form printed out from the ADMISSION online enrolment platform and signed with attached photo,

– an original of the secondary education certificate, and/or the Bachelor’s degree certificate, stamped with an Apostille (or legalized in a Polish Embassy in its country of origin),

– a certificate of proficiency in the English language,

– a document confirming eligibility to apply for admission to first-cycle studies, second-cycle studies, and uniform master's studies in the Republic of Poland, issued by a competent institution (Board of Education/NAWA),

–  the letter of decision on scholarship or exemption from education fees (issued by NAWA or other grantor).

ATTENTION!

The listed above documents are needed from all international candidates. Only after presenting the originals of the mentioned documents, a candidate will officially become a University of Lodz student. Please bear in mind that documents will have to be translated by a sworn translator into Polish after your coming to Poland due to Polish law’s requirement.

If you are a representative of recruitment company and you are conducting an application process on behalf of a candidate, you will be asked to provide us with a statement signed by the candidate where they confirm they are aware of the fact that agency is handling their application and that they are aware of the University of Lodz's requirements. We will also ask your candidate to have short online interview with IRO staff before we process the application.

After obtaining visa and insurance, the candidate should fill in the fields in “My Applications” in the subsection: “Information”.

Candidates who want to apply for accommodation in the University of Lodz dormitory should check "Yes" for the question “Do you need a place in the dormitory?” The University of Lodz offers 2 and 3 person rooms (no single rooms available). Accommodation costs are 430-660 PLN (100-140 Euro) per person per month.
